Worldwide, businesses are facing new challenges. Global firms are in the midst of learning how to pivot operations, increase flexibility in their organizations, and adapt to new ways of working. And it seems as if in the past year, the need to rapidly readjust has accelerated ten-fold. Commerce has adjusted, too, with consumers and companies alike demanding more transparency and increased sustainability when it comes to their purchases and suppliers.

So, what’s the best strategic approach to remaining amenable while also driving business growth and resilience?

In the first track of  Basware’s virtual event, Connect(ed), we’ll connect the dots between topics such as: the new role of the CFO, global compliancy and sustainability, and the undeniable value of artificial intelligence (AI).

During the second track we’ll discuss topics such as: visible commerce, the ecosystem approach to procure-to-pay, the role of analytics and data, how automation connects the world, and what’s next in P2P innovations.

  • Thierry Geerts: Thierry Geerts is father of 4 children and graduated as Solvay Business Engineer at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel. After his studies, he started working as an auditor for Coopers & Lybrand (now PWC), but quite soon his passion for media, online marketing and innovation led him to management and board positions at, among others, Corelio Publishing, Radio Nostalgie, Clickx and Passe-Partout. In 2008, he became CEO of Corelio Business Development and Arkafund. Since 2011, he is Country Director of Google Belgium-Luxembourg and as such he is positioned in the heart of the digital revolution, marketing and innovative entrepreneurship. He’s member of the “Digital Minds for Belgium” and “AI4Belgium” Expert group of Deputy Prime Minister De Croo, “Le Conseil du Digital” of Walloon Minister of Economy and of the board of IAB Europe. He’s the author of “Digitalis, how to reinvent our world” (NL/FR June’18 – ENG Jan’19).

  • Sami Peltonen: Sami Peltonen is VP of P2P Product Management. Sami boasts more than two decades developing and delivering solutions that streamline procurement and finance professionals’ daily lives, enabling them to achieve greater efficiencies within their organizations. Sami currently leads Basware’s P2P Roadmap and Product strategy.

  • Maarten Laukens: Maarten Laukens works as a Senior Global Business Advisor for Basware. With a strong analytical and technological background, he has been solving customer pain points for over 12 years. His focus has been on Process Management, Business Process Modeling, and Process Improvement in both finance, support and delivery organisations. Maarten likes to take a highly analytical, data-driven approach with a human touch—understanding that business solutions go well beyond the implementation of software—in order to truly execute for the customer. Maarten leverages his experienceto solve S2P business challenges holistically from a people, process, product, and partner standpoint to achieve maximum customer ROI.

  • Georg Sonner: Georg joined Basware in 2017. Having a background in Management & Technology, he’s connecting the view on business processes with technical solutions. In his role, Georg is focusing on our largest global customers, helping them to achieve highest levels of automation in Networked Purchase-to-Pay combined with transparency, compliance and sustainability.
